Enchanted Cypress Ballroom
Houston Wedding Photographer
If you have searched high and low for just the right venue, a visit to the Enchanted Cypress Ballroom must be the next place you tour. As soon as you step onto the red carpet, you’ll know that the Enchanted Cypress Ballroom is a wedding venue like no other. The atmosphere is stunning. The entire location is a dream backdrop for a wedding photographer, and for the bride and groom, family and friends ~ a truly enchanting location for the wedding of your dreams!
Sheryl and Carlos hadn’t even heard of Enchanted Cypress Ballroom until they came across their booth at the Houston Bridal Extravaganza. When they went to the open house at the Enchanted Cypress Ballroom and saw it set up for an actual wedding, “we were blown away! It was very much ‘us’ and what we had always pictured our wedding reception looking like. From the moment we saw the extravagant chandeliers, beautiful draperies, the openness of the space, and the 6+ video screens that were available to personalize the event, we knew that the other places we’d seen were no longer options! Needless to say, we booked the hall 2 ½ years before our wedding.” That was quite a good first impression for a venue to make on a young couple!
Carlos must have made a very good first impression on Sheryl as her boss at work. They both worked for Kohl’s; “Carlos was an Area Supervisor, and I was his Shoe Department Supervisor. So, technically, he was my boss.” His proposal was mighty impressive, if we may say so! Sheryl was under the impression that they were going out on a long overdue date night, but Carlos proposed to her on the ice at the Galleria ice rink ~ in front of both of their families (and hundreds of other onlookers)! He even had a banner made which read: My little buttercup has the sweetest smile. Dear little buttercup, will you stay awhile?
When Sheryl and Carlos first saw one another on their wedding day, they had very powerful first impressions. They described their feelings so beautifully ~
“We felt relieved that, at that point, there was no more planning to do. We felt proud that we’d accomplished exactly what we set out to, without having to sacrifice or settle for anything. And we felt privileged to have found the person we were about to spend the rest of our lives with.”
The celebration included 150 guests, consisting of immediate family and close friends. Everything about their wedding was absolutely gorgeous! The beautiful bride wore a diamond white, corset-style, taffeta gown embroidered with metallic accents, crystal beading, sequins, and a semi-cathedral train. The bracelet Sheryl wore was extra special – it belonged to her grandmother, and had also been worn by her Aunt Karen and her twin sister, Shelli on each of their wedding days. The wedding cake was a 3-tier, white, buttercream cake with ivory scrollwork, red roses, and black pearls of chocolate. The flavors were Italian Cream Cake and Vanilla Amaretto. All of the flowers were red and white roses.
We were also very impressed by the words of wisdom that Sheryl and Carlos had for future brides and grooms: “Even though I grew up knowing, like every other girl, what my wedding would eventually look like, the idea of actually planning for and paying for a wedding wasn’t something that excited me. In fact, I was more inclined to have the Justice of the Peace marry us and call it a day. After all, that would be money saved and headaches avoided. However, I can honestly say that I would definitely recommend the wedding planning/budgeting process to every bride and groom, simply because of what it has to offer. If nothing else, it’s an exercise in decision-making, teamwork, communication, and compromise. Carlos and I learned so much about each other during this process, and it’s only made us that much closer!! So, ignore those well-intentioned people who tell you “save your money”; a wedding should be more than a monetary investment.” Their wedding day was one that SGI Photography was definitely honored to be a part of. We thoroughly enjoyed capturing wedding day memories for Sheryl and Carlos that will last for a lifetime!
