You remember Shelly and Jett from the engagement photos on Galveston Beach we blogged about some time ago. Now, this is the rest of the story.
Shelly and Jett were each out one night with their own set of friends. They were introduced and exchanged phone numbers. The rest, as they say, is history! Jett planned a surprise proposal to Shelly which took place during a vacation with their friends in Key West, Florida. They were engaged for ten months before their big wedding day on June 4th.
Shelly and Jett both love the beach and any tropical setting, so The San Luis Resort in Galveston, Texas was the perfect venue for them! The San Luis hotel is one of our favorite wedding venues in Galveston. It is the most unique wedding ceremony and reception destination in the Greater Houston Area, offering great and unusual backgrounds for any wedding photographer outdoors as well as indoors. From the picture-perfect gazebo with stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico to the elegant ballroom inside the historic hotel, The San Luis was a breathtaking location for their wedding and reception. A blend of fantasy and fairytale in this romantic Galveston Island seaside resort, with outstanding service and the presence of 200 of their family and friends made Shelly and Jett’s dream wedding complete. From a professional wedding photographer’s standpoint, The San Luis Resort is ideally picturesque! Add a fantastic looking bride and groom such as Shelly and Jett, as the photography subjects – as well as their lovely family and friends, and it’s the icing on the cake!
There were touching moments as well as humorous. The symbolic ‘sand ceremony’ was one of those very special moments; 3 sets of parents, as well as the bride and groom, poured sand into a single vase to represent the coming together of each of their lives. An heirloom broach from the grandmother of the bride was placed on the side of the cake created by Cakes by Gina. On a lighter note, the uncle of the bride (who was also the videographer) was the victim of a ‘flyby’ by a seagull!
After the meaningful and joyous festivities, Shelly and Jett were off to honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We wish them all the best!
