The Grand Galvez Hotel
Galveston, Texas
Wedding Gala Extraordinaire
Robert and Anna met on the train in Belgium when they both realized that they’d gotten lost and decided to travel and visit Belgium together. Robert proposed to her on 04/09/19 in the UK, London where she was residing at the time. He came from Texas and took her to Clos Maggiore, which claims to be the most romantic restaurant in Europe! Anna’s family threw them an engagement party in Poland at the Blues Café.
The venue was chosen by Robert in the US, while Anna was taking part via video link as she was still waiting for her visa. Anna said that she loved The Grand Galvez Hotel in Galveston, Texas for its location and old-style elegance. The gown was from David’s Bridal. “I chose it for its flattering figure-hugging cut line with, at the same time, voluminous, dramatic bottom. We did not use any florist; I made the centerpieces and got our flowers for the bridesmaids from different stores.” The cake was from Patty Cakes. It had a lime cake flavor. “We initially opted for red velvet, but after tasting all the available flavors, we both agreed that it was the lime cake.”
When Anna first saw Robert on their wedding day at The Grand Galvez, she felt excited, but also relieved. “It was a long journey for us due to my visa and Covid. So, I was almost in disbelief that I was about to marry the love of my life and have our ‘happy ever after’!” “My stepdaughter’s speech was the most emotional moment for me. Our happiness wouldn’t be completed without having the wholehearted blessing from Robert’s children.”
Their wedding reception at The Grand Galvez was an elegant gala. “There were so many things I enjoyed at the wedding. I definitely loved the venue with its old-style elegance, but mostly, I loved the vibe at our wedding. It was a rather small wedding with a group of family and best friends. A very relaxed atmosphere; everyone seemed to have a great time and an evening full of fun, joy, laughter, and awesome memories.”
They plan to honeymoon in Hawaii. “We had been traveling for two years prior to our wedding, waiting for my visa and Covid restrictions. At the moment, we are just enjoying our new house. When we are ready to travel again our proper honeymoon will be in Hawaii.”
Anna’s advice for brides-to-be? “I would say just relax. You don’t need to impress anyone, just celebrate this very special day with your loved ones. There were so many things that didn’t go exactly to plan at our wedding, but we didn’t let it bother us, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The main thing is everyone had a blast, and this is how they are going to remember our wedding.”
