Mandi and Russell spent quite a bit of time at the beautifully restored, historic Tremont House Hotel. At this Victorian-era hotel near the historic Strand, Mandi & Russell, their families and bridal party arrived the day prior to the big wedding day. This was the location where I took all of their ‘getting ready’ pictures. They enjoyed elegant surroundings and excellent service, with ample time to prepare for the wedding which was held the following day at Hotel Galvez, the sister property to The Tremont House. A survivor of hurricanes and a pillar of Galveston’s downtown community, the 1879 Tremont House Hotel is a gem worth considering for unique lodging for guests, wedding receptions or even wedding ceremonies.
There is plenty to do within walking distance, such as art galleries, one-of-a-kind shops, The Grand 1894 Opera House, the cruise ship terminal, and the harbor with dining spots galore. Horse-drawn carriages add to the vintage feel – even more so during “Dickens on the Strand”, which will be held on December 3 & 4, 2011.
